Portal 2 Confirmed!! :D

Portal 2 has been
officially confirmed by Valve today. Few details have been released but
according the latest issue of Game Informer (check out the amazing
cover below), players can expect a "full-fledged, standalone sequel".

Released in October 2007, Portal game
was featured on The Orange Box compilation that also included Team
Fortress 2, Half-Life 2 as well as Half-Life 2: Episodes 1 and 2.

Maybe Valve has something to reveal at GDC next week?



UPDATE: It appears that Portal 2 will be released as an Xbox 360 and PC title on October 26, according to Gamestop.

The online retailer issued an official description (which you can read below). Two player co-op?! Count me in!

The
single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new
characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of
devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of
the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally
murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game.



The game’s
two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign
with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This
new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew
about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively,
but to think cooperatively.

I thought I saw something saying something about paint that makes you move faster and do other stuff, and now I can't find where I saw it <_< .

I wonder how coop would work. I don't know if I want to spend full price for a portal game if I do Im getting on my computer because I regret getting the first for xbox.

It explains a bit about coop and some of the pain thing I mentioned earlier.

It also says that it takes place hundreds of years in the future. GLaDOS is still the antagonist and Chell is still the protagonist...I'm confused...Didn't they both 'splode?

GLaDOS, I could understand, because she can have her memory backed up. But if you look at the game informer covers, you can see shes completely in tact. That I can't understand. I found out that Chell was put into some form of Stasis btw. So now GLaDOS's existence is more questionable...

Also, being 100 years in the future? This could break any tie portal has to half-life...

Thats good news for me because I haven't played half life and don't want to be confused about it.

Exactly, Knifey...And Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is going to involve the Aperture Science ship, the Borealis. I can't understand why they would want to isolate the stories...

I can't believe they edited the old game to have a new ending! SO COOL!

It's pretty cool, if you ask me. From now on, we may never know if a game will have a sequel or not.

Valve announced they were making Portal 2 a loooooooooooooong time ago. Its only recently that they announced that they are releasing it...
